Special solution - temperature cycling test on gas springs

Customer requirement:

The JULABO customer would like to carry out a temperature change test on gas springs. The test process involves around 250,000 load changes. The gas springs are to be alternately cooled down to a temperature of -40°C as quickly as possible and then heated up to 100°C.

JULABO solution:

Two stainless steel double-jacketed vessels were manufactured. The jacket area is temperature-controlled with silicon oil and the internal temperature is measured using an external sensor. A PRESTO W91 is used on the first vessel for cooling down to -40°C and an SL12 circulator with booster heater is used on the second vessel for heating up to +100°C.

The gas springs are now alternately immersed in the temperature-controlled vessels. To ensure better heat transfer, the suspension of the springs is constantly rotated. This creates a circular flow in the vessel.

The vessels are also installed in a vapor-tight housing to reduce dilution of the medium.
