1967: The Founding
By founding JULABO, Gerhard Juchheim laid the foundation for a company that specialized in the development of innovative temperature control technology from the very beginning. Precision, technical excellence, and forward-looking solutions for laboratories and industry continue to shape the company’s philosophy to this day.
The '70s and '80s: Technological Advances and New Standards
1972
With the introduction of the first fully electronic laboratory circulators, JULABO set new standards in temperature control technology. This development delivered exceptional precision and reliability and marked an important milestone in innovation.
1979
At ACHEMA, JULABO is turning heads with its innovative products, modern design, and the introduction of the LED temperature display. With these innovations, JULABO is setting new technological standards in the industry.
1982
The introduction of direct measurement and control within the connected system, together with the innovative multi-display featuring LED as well as warning and safety functions, consistently advances the digitalization of temperature control processes.
The '90s: Innovation, Digitalization, and International Expansion
1992
The introduction of microprocessor-based electronics lays the foundation for even more precise temperature control.
1993
The founding of JULABO USA marks the beginning of the company's international expansion. The new location strengthens the company's market presence in North America and sets the stage for further global expansion.
1994
Certification in accordance with DIN ISO 9001 underscores JULABO’s strong commitment to quality and confirms its consistent focus on the highest standards in development, production, and service.
1995
The new "TopTech" generation completely replaces the previous analog technology and combines modern design with innovative technology. Later that same year, JULABO JAPAN opens as another international location.
1997
With JULABO SINGAPORE, the company is further expanding its operations in the Asian market. At the same time, JULABO is introducing its new “HighTech” circulators and temperature controllers.
1999
JULABO is expanding its product portfolio to include microprocessor-controlled water baths and shaking water baths with built-in splash protection. The new “ECONOMY” laboratory circulators with LED displays also replace the last glass thermometer in the product line. JULABO UK follows in the same year, marking a successful market entry in the United Kingdom.
The 2000s: Paths to the Markets of the Future
2001
JULABO ITALIA marks the establishment of another European location. At the same time, the company is introducing the high-temperature circulators of the Forte HT Series. In the years that followed, the product portfolio was continuously expanded – including the highly dynamic temperature control systems of the PRESTO series, new laboratory circulators, calibration baths, and the EH circulator series.
2004
The Chinese market is becoming increasingly important for JULABO. The founding of JULABO CHINA strengthens the company's position in Asia and continues its international expansion.
2005
JULABO now has its own branch office in South Korea as well. At the same time, the recirculating coolers of the new FL series and the compact cryo circulators of the CF series have been added to the product lineup.
2007
A new chapter begins in the leadership of the family-owned company: Markus Juchheim joins the management team as an additional Managing Director and assumes responsibility for the company’s future development. JULABO’s international presence also continues to grow with the establishment of JULABO LATIN AMERICA.
2009
With JULABO FRANCE, the company is strengthening its presence in the French market.
The 2010s: A Generational Shift and Continued Growth
2011
JULABO presents the first models of the new PRESTO generation. Modern design, an intuitive industrial-grade color touchscreen, and high dynamic performance set new standards in the range of professional temperature control technology.
2014
With the opening of its JULABO NEDERLAND and JULABO INDIA branches, JULABO is expanding its international network with two additional strategically important locations and strengthening its customer focus worldwide.
2016: A New Generation Takes the Reins and a New Chapter Begins
Markus Juchheim assumes sole management responsibility for JULABO GmbH, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the history of the family-owned company. In recognition of company founder Gerhard Juchheim’s achievements, the company’s address in Seelbach is officially renamed Gerhard-Juchheim-Straße 1.
2017: 50 Years of JULABO
To mark its 50th anniversary, JULABO is looking back on five decades of company history as part of a multi-day event. In this anniversary year, Managing Director Markus Juchheim is also making a statement about social commitment: The newly established JULABO Foundation supports regional associations, social institutions, and nonprofit projects.
2018
For the first time, JULABO has surpassed the 50 million euro revenue mark. At the same time, the workforce has grown to over 400 employees, underscoring the company’s successful growth.
2019
After approximately 18 months of construction, the new four-story administration building opens its doors at the company’s headquarters in Seelbach. The modern new building creates space for further growth and underscores JULABO’s long-term commitment to the region.
The 2020s: Innovation, Sustainability, and Shaping the Future
2020
The introduction of the new MAGIO product brand rounds out JULABO’s modern circulator portfolio. The units combine high precision with user-friendly operation and are consistently tailored to the needs of laboratories, research, and industry.
Another milestone in production follows with the initial operation of a state-of-the-art, powerful SMD production facility. It consolidates key core competencies within the company and strengthens JULABO’s technological independence.
2021
With the acquisition of the Saxon automation specialist GAF (Gesellschaft für Automatisierungstechnik mbH Freiberg & Co. KG), JULABO is strategically expanding its expertise in the range of automation and system solutions. This strategic move opens up new opportunities.
2023
With the start of its North Star corporate program in March, JULABO is setting the course for a sustainable future. In light of the European F-Gas Regulation, numerous products are being systematically converted to natural refrigerants. In doing so, the company underscores its commitment to sustainable technologies and responsible business practices.
2024
With the ceremonial laying of the cornerstone at the StartkLahr site in Lahr, construction of the new production facility begins – a significant commitment to the region, to growth, and to shaping a sustainable future.
In October, JULABO is expanding its international network with the establishment of JULABO Switzerland, thereby strengthening its presence in the European market and its proximity to customers in the region.
2025
The new production site in Lahr begins operations on May 12. Certified in accordance with DGNB standards and designed to be climate-positive, the building generates enough energy to cover its entire annual demand, setting new standards for sustainable industrial buildings.
In December, JULABO also strengthens its long-standing partnership with its Indian partner SRICO. The closer cooperation enhances JULABO’s market presence in India and lays the foundation for further growth in this important future market.
